Mission: Faith and Friends, Inc. exists to aid families with special needs children in finding resources; providing services unique to special needs families; educating the community about special needs, and making life more fun for all.
The organization, located in Beech Grove IN, is exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to provide services and support for special needs families. Faith & Friends, Inc is a 501(c)3.
Faith & Friends, Inc. started in the minds (and hearts) of a special-needs mommy and pediatric nurse in August 2011. Through the better part of six months that Faith was hospitalized, we turned to each other over and over to say, "someone should have thought of..." or "we could save money by...". For example, Faith really needed a haircut, but she was either in the hospital or was too ill to take to a salon. We have so many ideas and are open to more if you have one!
Faith was born in 2006 at 34-weeks with a cleft lip/palate, facial abnormalities, heart defect (VSD), hydronephrosis (fluid around kidneys), clinodactyly (curvy pinky fingers), low tone, and a Syndrome Without A Name. Faith suffered GI failure in February 2011 after a routine surgery. After four central lines, two scary cases of bacterial sepsis, and the addition of a J-tube, cecostomy, and vesicostomy, she has stabilized and is fed continuously by J-tube. Now 10-years-old, she is a happy 2nd grader with classic autism (secondary to the SWAN), pica (eating non-food items), global developmental delay, seizures, and GI dysfunction. She is learning to "speak" with her speech computer, although her verbal and sign vocabulary is growing daily.
